Nile Rodgers has written, produced, and performed on recordings that have sold more than 500-million albums globally. Every hit record he’s produced has shared one essential element: the used 1960 Fender hardtail Stratocaster® Nile bought in a Miami music shop. Rarely is a single guitar so inseparably identified with its owner as The Hitmaker.
The Hitmaker features a 1960 alder body that is uniquely smaller and more contoured than a typical vintage Strat. The beautiful Olympic White lacquer matches the finish Nile sprayed on the guitar himself just after he acquired it in the early days of Chic. The custom ’59-profile one-piece maple neck has a 9.5″ radius fingerboard, medium jumbo frets and a satin finish. A “Nile Rodgers & Chic” logo adorns the back of the headstock and a custom Hitmaker logo is stamped into the neck plate.
The Nile Rodgers Hitmaker single-coil Strat pickups are voiced to accurately replicate the quack, chime and bell-like clarity of the original Hitmaker. Other features include a hard-tail string-through bridge with period-correct bent-steel saddles, an eye-catching mirrored chrome-plated brass pickguard, locking tuners and a set of white speed knobs. The guitar also comes with a vintage-style case with Hitmaker-embroidered interior and a custom certificate of authenticity.
2003 Fender FSR “Splattercaster” Stratocaster Made in Mexico. These guitars were introduced as “Fender Standard Series Stratocaster models with Spin Art Finishes. The ‘Splattercaster’ was a special run guitar made between 2003 & 2004 in very limited numbers, with only 500 ever produced and no two finishes being the same!Guitar is in Great condition with little signs of use. There are some dings all on the back and bottom edge. (See Pictires) But the Front is Clean. The Bridge pickup has been changed to a Bill Lawrence and It looks like one of the other pickup cover is not original. Also there is the “Hambugular conspiracy” which says someone who worked at the Fuji Gen Gakki factory actually placed this McDonalds Hambugular’s face in the film as a joke! And then he was supposedly fired over it! A myth or a reality? Who knows? But the little faces are there—joke or no joke. One thing is for sure, the quality of these is no joking matter. (Xhefri’s Guitars told me this in Fact is True)

The “Foto Flame” series was a short-lived, inexpensive attempt by Fender to compete with a growing “flame top” market such as PRS and Dean guitars. The “Foto Flame” is an thin piece of photographic film of some very highly figured wood laminated to the guitar, (thus the name Foto), developed by Fender, in connection some photographic corporation. (I have heard both Polaroid and Kodak, but most likely Fuji). The Foto Flame guitars, with the flame on top, usually have a Basswood cap on Alder or, in the case of the Foto Flame being on front and back, the whole body can be made of Basswood. When the “Foto Flame,” film is applied to the Basswood top, it makes the guitar appear as if it had high-end matchbook, figured Maple. The way they shrink wrapped this film around the guitar is amazing and it is hard not to think it is real wood. The Japanese are masters at copying, as these guitars testify. In fact, the Fender USA guys “almost cried” when they saw the MIJ quality as Fender USA was trying to get back up on its feet after the CBS buyout in March of 1984.
The 1996 MIJ 50th Anniversary Honey Burst 1962 Foto Flame Telecaster Reissue. Like the DX Custom Anniversary Teles, these were only made between late 1995 through early 1997. Thus every one you will find has a serial number starting with a T or a U. The neck is solid Maple with a ROSEWOOD fret board with a radius is like a 60’s Teles with the small/medium frets.
