Definition – 1st Brown and Up
Literally means, “Heaven and Earth”. It is, in the orient, interpreted as the creation of the world or the beginning of human history, therefore, it is the initial pattern played by the beginner. This pattern consist of two similar parts; one to represent the Heavens and the other the Earth.

Start on the intersection of ABCD on the X facing D

  1. Turn 90° to your left moving only your left leg and form a left forward stance toward B while executing a down block with your left hand.
  2. Lift your left hand and perform a measuring punch and then step your right leg over and make a right forward stance toward B and execute a lunge punch with your right hand.
  3. Turn 180° to your right moving only your right leg and forma right forward stance toward A while executing a down block with your right hand.
  4. Lift your right hand and perform a measuring punch and then step your left leg over and make a left forward stance toward A and execute a lunge punch with your left hand.
  5. Turn 90° to your left moving only your left leg and form a left forward stance toward D while executing a down block with your left hand.
  6. Lift your left hand and perform a measuring punch and then step your right leg over and make a right forward stance toward D and execute a lunge punch with your right hand.
  7. Turn 180° to your right moving only your right leg and form a right forward stance toward C while executing a down block with your right hand.
  8. Lift your right hand and perform a measuring punch and then step your left leg over and make a left forward stance toward C and execute a lunge punch with your left hand.
  9. Turn 90° to your left moving only your left leg and form a left back stance toward A while executing an inner-forearm block with your left hand.
  10. Extend your left hand and perform a measuring punch and then step your right leg over and make a right forward stance toward A and execute a lunge punch with your right hand.
  11. Turn 180° to your right moving only your right leg and forma right back stance toward B while executing an inner-forearm block with your right hand.
  12. Extend your right hand and perform a measuring punch and then step your left leg over and make a left forward stance toward B and execute a lunge punch with your left hand.
  13. Turn 90° to your left moving only your left leg and form a left back stance toward C while executing an inner-forearm block with your left hand.
  14. Extend your left hand and perform a measuring punch and then step your right leg over and make a right forward stance toward C and execute a lunge punch with your right hand.
  15. Turn 180° to your right moving only your right leg and forma right back stance toward D while executing an inner-forearm block with your right hand.
  16. Extend your right hand and perform a measuring punch and then step your left leg over and make a left forward stance toward D and execute a lunge punch with your left hand.
  17. Step your right leg over and make a right forward stance toward D and execute a lunge punch with your right hand.
  18. Step your left leg backwards toward C and make a left forward stance toward D and execute a lunge punch with your left hand.
  19. Step your right leg backwards toward C and make a right forward stance toward D and execute a lunge punch with your right hand and kiyap!

Return to the starting position by moving your left leg.
